N.L. Dalmia Centre for Excellence, India’s premier high-tech management institute has launched a Post Graduate Certificate Program (PGCP) in Big Data. The certification program will be in association with SAS, a global technology leader in business analytics. The collaboration between N.L. Dalmia Centre for Excellence and SAS Institute India will help students who are seeking to expertise their skills in this emerging domain at NL Dalmia’s state-of-art campus in Mumbai metropolitan region.
Big Data is the present and the future. Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data – both structured and unstructured that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. In this age of information, big data will fundamentally change the way businesses compete and operate. The analysis of this data could help businesses in making key management decisions. Big Data is one of the leading technologies of the future which is driving dramatic transformation.
If data is a new oil then analysis is the refinery. The Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Hadoop etc. are leading trends which are shaping Big Data. The IDC report states that 68% of firms now have at least one big data project in production. The big data market will increase from $130.1 billion this year to more than $203 billion in 2020. The impact of big data will be beyond one sector, be it manufacturing, healthcare or finance. Several technology experts have predicted that big data experts or data scientists will play a crucial role in the organisations of the future.
When you consider that in 2020 the world will generate 50x more data than it did in 2011, it’s no surprise that the position of Data Scientist will be the most sought for professions of tomorrow. A Harvard Business Review in 2012 reported that Data Scientist will be the hottest job of the 21st century. And, the signs of it are already evident. According to Glassdoor, the average salary of Data Scientist at Top 10 technology companies was reported above $1,20,000. Higher demand and lower availability of skilled force are amongst the primary reasons for such higher salaries. N.L.Dalmia and SAS Institute India have joined hands to bridge this industry-academia gap.
Students seeking career and skilling opportunities can opt for Post Graduate Certificate Program in Big Data with SAS at N.L. Dalmia Centre for Excellence, Mumbai. The part-time program is spread over 480 hours, encompassing 10 industry driven tracks.
