NTPC School of Business offers PGDM in focus on electricity and power sector
As India aims for 24×7 electricity to all households by 2022, state-owned PSU electricity giant National Thermal Power Corporation has signed a MoU with IIM Ahmedabad, to empower management professionals in the niche area like electricity.
Two-year PG Diploma in Management by NTPC School of Business (NSB) will enroll 120 students. The business school will also be supported for the next five years to the extent of Rs 25 crore in order to help the institute become fully functional.
“The role of IIM-A will be to help NSB in conducting and designing this program with their faculty. It will also help in recruiting faculty as well as staff,” said Sunil Kumar Maheshwari, Professor HRM and Strategic Management, IIM- Ahmedabad.
PGDM in electricity and power is unique for India
IIM Ahmedabad professors will help in developing the course and providing guidance in doing research in the energy sector. The institute would also focus on training and skill development. The overall fee for the course is expected to be around Rs 15-16 lakh. Initially, faculties from IIM-A will train the students at the business school.
Students at NTPC School of Business at expected to do research in fields of grids, power distribution, smart meters, power saving techniques etc. It is yet unclear, whether students enrolled would be handed jobs at NTPC or not. NTPC School of Business offers 1 year PGDM at its Noida campus. The total fee for the program is Rs 15,00,000 and another Rs 30,000 refundable deposit. This includes staying in the hostel along with mess food.
