NISM by SEBI invites applications for PGDM in Securities Market

Mumbai, the financial capital of India has long been a pulse of the nation. With the expansion and privatisation of India’s economy, capital market investments have become a new way to invest. One aspiring for an entrepreneurial or managerial career in the dynamic securities markets is required to possess a myriad of skill sets over and above expertise in the markets and market-related areas.

National Institute of Securities Markets, an initiative of SEBI has invited applications for Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Securities Markets) at its newly constructed Patalganga campus near Panvel, Navi Mumbai. The new campus at Patalganga was inaugurated by PM Modi in 2016. PGDM in SM is approved by All India Council for Technical Education.

NISM, an initiative of SEBI has been a choice for students who want to pursue a career in India’s bustling financial markets. The two year PGDM (SM) is an ideal platform for those with a passion for securities markets, aspiring for in-depth knowledge and a long-term career in securities markets. The programme is suitable for both fresh graduates and experienced candidates.

Graduates from various disciplines, such as Commerce & Accounting, Management, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, etc. will develop their analytical capabilities for the securities markets domain together with practical insights.

Those with work experience of 6 months to 3 years stand to benefit from exposure to the practices of the securities markets. NISM has been a choice for graduates in Bachelor in Financial Markets (BFM) since its inception. Other than a full-time degree, the institute also offers short-time certification courses. It’s tie-up course with Kotak Securities and Religare also offers a guaranteed job of Rs 3,00,000 after completion.

The state of the art campus is equipped with Simulated Market Algorithm Related Trading (SMART) lab with live streaming market data. The one-of-its-kind finance lab provides access to the participants to databases such as Bloomberg, Prowess, etc. and application software such as MATLAB, SAS, R, WinRATS, E-Views, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

The minimum required academic qualification is graduation – a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by UGC or equivalent. Graduates of any discipline, except Fine Arts, are eligible.


There is no age limit for pursuing PGDM (SM). However, applicants less than 28 years of age as on August 01, 2018 would be preferred.

Work Experience

Work experience is not an essential requirement; however, relevant experience of 6 months and above would receive additional credit in the selection process, with a maximum weight for an experience of 3 years.

Appearance in Competitive Examinations

The applicants shall have appeared for any of the competitive examinations viz, CAT, GMAT, XAT or any other recognized competitive examinations (e.g. MH-CET or any State-level equivalent). The decision of the Selection Committee of NISM on cut-off scores for selection will be final in this regard.

Program Fees and Placements

Fees of PGDM in SM – Rs. 10,50,000 inclusive of taxes and accommodation.

Placement offers – Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 9.1 lakhs. Average CTC at Rs 5 lakhs.
